New Yoming
New Yoming is a dystopian novel complete at 60,000 words currently on submission. Full book available on request.
Within five years Wyoming evolved from being the least populated state in the nation to the most; land was affordable and bad ideas were free.
After the mass exodus of their suburban town, failed collage artist George and his failed ceramicist husband Richard investigate the merits of this fabled New Yoming. Heralded as “Not Your Grandma’s Time Share,” each month citizens are assigned new employment, new housing, new families—competencies and compatibility be damned. Unfortunately, integrating into such a society would require George and Richard to separate from one another, though considering the degeneration of their relations, a break might not be so bad. The pair decide on a half year trial, which would allow each of them to undergo six different assignments. But as the couple careens through careers aspirational and unfathomable, acquire lovers ideal and absurd, the decision of whether or not to remain in the novel society or resurrect their relationship in their ruins of the “before before” becomes increasingly more difficult. |
